National Register of Historic Places for New York, New York

 

New York, New York encompasses Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island and the Bronx. The Manahattoes and Canarsies Indians roamed the area. New York’s name originates with the Duke of York.

 

New York, New York fought in the Battle of Brooklyn. During 1904, the Interborough Rapid Transit began transporting the area citizens.

 

New York is the future home of The Freedom Tower.

 

Among the movies filmed in New York are Arthur, Annie, Tootsie, Ghostbusters, The Muppets Take Manhattan and Crocodile Dundee.

 

Annually, the city celebrates the Book Country Book Festival, the New York Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, New York Underground Film Festival, New Year’s Eve in Times Square and the US Open.
